- OUR HISTORY -
Family Mundi Company was formally established in September 2008. At the beginning it was formed by Performing Arts students at the University Paris 8 and their friends who were in a process of engagement in the professional artistic field. Since 2010 Family Mundi has been a professional company.
The creation on which Family Mundi is working currently, P.O. BOX Unabomber is the fourth big production of the company. In 2009, the company produced its first show The Dream, adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare. The following year, the show won the Grand Price of the University Theatre Festival in Nice. In honour of the unique spirit of the company, the award was renamed the Cosmopolitan Price when delivered. In 2010, in Epée de Bois Theatre at the Cartoucherie de Vincennes was born Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? By Edward Albee. In 2012 was created The Most Entertaining And Lamentable History Of Romeo And Juliet, also very well received by the public and critics.
In the beginning Family Mundi was formed by comedians and artists who had very different cultural roots. Since the establishment of the company in 2008, participants from more twenty countries have combined their efforts in the development of its projects (Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, South Korea, Spain, USA, France, Georgia, Japan, Kosovo, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Tunisia, Turkey, Vietnam). This rich cultural diversity was immediately recognizable in our shows. Recently, the company focuses increasingly on contemporary drama and multidisciplinary works without losing the research of transcultural values.
The company's shows were presented in diverse places – from a metro station through small Parisian theatres hardly welcoming 50-60 people up to very renowned theaters like the National Theatre of Nice and the Epée de Bois Theatre at the Cartoucherie de Vincennes (next to Ariane Mnouchkine’s Théâtre du Soleil).
Family Mundi has received twice the aid from the City of Paris - Paris Jeunes Talents (Young Talents of Paris.
